Exciting, Energetic, Enthusiastic, Skilled, Talented, Versatile are all words that describe The Countymen. The Countymen are a very versatile, three piece group of musicians . We have been together for several years now and can offer many collective years of experience and skill.. We play a great party mix of today’s country including Keith Urban, Deirks Bently, Brooks & Dunn along with yesterdays greatest classic rock tunes from artists like Lynyrd Skynyrd , BTO, and some Hip.
The Countymen have been extreemly successful over the years playing many of the rural Ontario fairs and similar events. We continue to please crowds when touring the western Quebec and eastern Ontario region.
You will enjoy our sound and stage energy. Our Sound system provides a balanced sound, including fully processed Mackie speakers, a state of the art Soundcraft mixing console that provides a smooth easy to listen to sound that accomodates large rooms but all compact enough to fit in the tightest of spaces. I invite you to browse our website @ Http://WWW.THECOUNTYMEN.COM and listen to our online demo.

Meet The Band

Gary Rose

Bass Guitar and Lead Vocals

At 46 years old Gary has stopped banging on empty barrels to make music, as he did when he was a kid and couldn’t afford a guitar. But when he finally got that 6-string guitar at 14 years old, there was just no stopping him. Gary remembers the old days when he was just 16 playing in bars. The band would take a break, and because he was underage, he would leave the bar until they returned to the stage. The waiting seemed to take forever. He got pretty good as time went on. He played with some of the greats. Gary was part of the opening act for the likes of Ian Tyson, Wayne Rondstat, and Luanda Brown of the Family Brown. A couple of decades ago, Gary picked up the bass guitar and found a whole new love. Something about the bass guitar transcends the soul. He plays it all - Country, Classic Rock, Golden Oldies and just about every other genre you can think of. He loves to tour. He loves to be onstage. "I love the energy from the audience." Music just runs through his veins. So as a studio musician, a lead or back-up vocalist, playing with a group, duo or, solo - it just doesn’t matter as long as he is playing his guitar, standing behind a microphone, and entertaining an audience.

Freddy Brass

Lead Guitar and Lead Vocals

Freddy started playing guitar at the age of seventeen when he first heard a live recording of Johnny Winter's Jumpin' Jack Flash. His earliest influences besides Johnny Winter of course were Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper and Kiss. As he matured as a musician so did his appreciation of music, especially vocal bands such as The Beatles who remain one of his favorites, in particular the creative genius of John Lennon. "Each time you listen to a Beatles track, you hear something new." Today he enjoys playing live in a band that uses strong vocal harmonies while paying homage to some of the finest Rock & Roll Bands. "Only playing in front of a crowd can give you that 'out of body' experience when you're outside looking down upon yourself." Now that's Rock and Roll!!

Marcel Desormeaux.

Percussion and Lead Vocals

Marcel has been kicking around the local Montreal music scene since the mid 1980's. With a wide range of styles, including R&B, rock, blues, and pop, his stylistic diversity and vocal capability, coupled with his strong musical instincts and soulful approach enable him to seamlessly fit into any musical situation. Singing practically since he was born, Marcel became a real crowd pleaser with his well known Montreal based band No Strings Attached. He has the ability to take on lead vocals in any given style of venue so you are sure to be entertained.
Between 1995 and 2007 he became one of the West Island most sought-after drummers to sub with any act. While living in Toronto for 2 years, Marcel studied the recording & music bizz and has played with many bands over his 20 year career. Marcel's main influences have been from California rock bands like The Eagles (singing drummer) and The Doobie Brothers as well as todays new Country music, R & B, plus disco bands from the 60's and 70's.
